Plumber Kearsley

Kearsley sits beside Aberdare, and Aberdare Plumbing Co is the plumber for it on the same run, where cracked clay drains from the 1912 cottage grid and rust-choked steel water services are the jobs the village stock throws up. You get a fixed price before work starts, and bookings go through the phone or the form.

Coal, Clay and a 1912 Grid

A village for one pit

Kearsley was laid out in 1912 for the Abermain No.2 colliery, the first on the coalfield to mechanise, and its weatherboard, fibro and later brick-veneer homes still sit on that original grid beside Werakata National Park. Census figures record 838 people in 287 dwellings, 98.6% of them separate houses.

A century of clay movement

The cottage drains are glazed earthenware bedded in reactive clay, and a hundred-odd years of swelling and drying has shifted joints and opened gaps. Gums on the Werakata boundary and big garden trees send roots into those gaps looking for water.

Old steel, old tanks, old LPG

Unrenovated weatherboards still run galvanised water services that rust from within until the tap flow drops away. Plenty of first-fitted hot water tanks remain in service and tend to fail once winter frosts set in, and LPG setups added over the decades carry regulators and copper that want checking before any new appliance is connected.

Four Services Cover the Village Work

Plumber feeding a drain camera into a pit at a commercial unit

Blocked drains

Roots cut out of the old earthenware, with the camera through the line first

Plumber finishing a continuous-flow gas hot water install

Hot water

Ageing tanks repaired or swapped, plus heat pump systems for homes wanting lower running costs

Gas fitter checking an oven connection

Gas fitting

LPG regulators checked, appliances connected and leaks traced on older copper

Plumber collecting gear from the ute toolbox

Emergency plumber

Burst steel services, sewage at the yard gully and tanks that split overnight

A drain that keeps blocking after it's cleared deserves a camera inspection before anyone prices a repair, and cracked pipe that's still round may suit pipe relining instead of a dig.

When We're Not the Right Call

Bushfire damage to a cottage on the Werakata edge, or storm damage to its roof, is a builder's repair before any plumbing is reconnected. A fault in an LPG supply cylinder itself goes back to your gas supplier.

Kearsley Questions, Answered

Does it cost anything to have you come out to Kearsley?

It costs nothing to get us out to your door (excluding after-hours). A night or weekend visit has its own rate, given when you ring, and the plumber fixes the price for the job before starting.

Do the old sewers under these cottages need digging up?

Not if the clay is still round. A liner can seal cracked joints from inside without touching the yard. The line is filmed first, because a length that has deformed past clearing has to be excavated and replaced, and the footage shows which you have.
