Gas Fitter Aberdare

Aberdare Plumbing Co handles gas fitting in Aberdare: cooktops and heaters connected, BBQ points run, gas leaks found and repaired, and older lines pressure-tested. The plumbers who come out are licensed gas fitters too, so a water fault and a gas fault can go on one booking, and you have a fixed price before anything starts.

Drains, hot water and general plumbing are covered from the Aberdare Plumbing Co home page.

Aberdare Gas Fitting Services

Freestanding gas cooker connected in a kitchen

Gas appliance installation

A cooktop swap, a wall oven, an outdoor BBQ point, a pool heater or a room heater hooked up, with the supply pipe tested before anything is connected.

Gas leak detection

A gas smell tracked to the joint or fitting at fault, the section isolated and fixed, then the line tested again before gas goes back on.

Gas hot water installs also run under this licence, while system choice and repair-or-replace advice sit on the hot water pages.

How Does a Gas Fault Show Itself?

Some gas problems are obvious. Others only show when an appliance is changed or the line is tested. Signs to act on:

  • A whiff of gas by the meter, around a heater or in the cupboard below the cooktop, even if it comes and goes
  • Burner flames that burn lazy and yellow rather than a crisp blue
  • Any appliance whose flame keeps dying, or that gives off an odd smell on start-up
  • A hiss near the meter with every appliance off

Don't sit on any of these. A corroded joint on steel pipe can go from faint to dangerous, and a pressure test shows how the line is actually holding.

Why Test Old Gas Pipe First?

Gas came to cottages built for something else

The oldest houses here date from the 1904 subdivision, weatherboard and fibro homes whose gas pipework is now decades old. Steel pipe inside those walls corrodes at its own pace, and a run that looks fine at the meter can fail a pressure test.

Test, then connect

A new cooktop on a failing line is a hazard with a nice finish, so the test comes before the appliance. If the pipe fails, renewing it is priced on the quote ahead of the connection. Newer brick-veneer homes get the same test, because nothing is assumed.

Frosty mornings bring heaters out

With 6.4 frost days a year on average, gas heaters get used hard in winter, and the first cold snap is when a tired line or a faulty heater shows itself. A heater that smells strange when first lit for the season should be looked at before winter sets in.

What Goes Into a Gas Fitting Quote?

"Not only all of that but the job came in right on quote." Steve

  • Pipe condition Copper in good order connects straight up, while corroded steel may need renewing first
  • The route A meter mounted outside is quicker to work from than a line threaded through a cottage subfloor or cavity
  • What's being connected A BBQ bayonet takes less time than a flued heater or a hard-piped pool heater
  • The checks Pressure test, leak check and commissioning are part of the price, never extras

That's how the quote works in practice:

Four Steps From Ring to Flame

  1. 01

    Ring or send the form

Call (02) 4063 3475 or use the form to explain the fault. We ask enough to bring the right equipment the first time.

  2. 02

    A fixed price first

A plumber inspects the job and names a fixed figure up front. Nothing gets started until you give the go-ahead.

  3. 03

    Test, connect, check

A pressure test goes on the line first, then the new appliance goes on or the faulty joint is remade, and a detector checks each fitting.

  4. 04

    Covered for a year

Every job carries our 365-day warranty on all work. If something we did isn't right, ring the same number.

When We're Not the Right Call

Gas escaping at the meter, or from the supply main under the footpath, is the gas distributor's to fix through its emergency number. If the smell is strong right now, clear the house first and ring from the footpath. Faulty electronics or an ignition fault inside an appliance is warranty or service work for its maker.

What Aberdare Homes Ask About Gas

Do old gas lines in Aberdare homes need replacing before a new appliance goes on?

Not always, but they're tested every time. Steel run into these cottages decades ago can corrode inside the wall where you can't see it. If the pressure test shows a drop, the pipe renewal is priced before the appliance, and no appliance goes onto pipe that failed.

Can you connect a gas cooktop and check for leaks in the same visit?

Yes. Connecting it, leak-checking the joints and pressure-testing the line all fall under the one gas fitting licence, so a single booking covers all three. A detector goes over each joint before we leave.

There is a gas smell inside my Aberdare home. What now?

Get the household outdoors, and don't flick switches or unplug anything on the way. If the appliance tap is right beside your exit, turn it off. From the street, ring the gas network's emergency line, and once the supply is isolated we can trace the escape and repair it.

Is gas hot water work part of gas fitting or the hot water pages?

It sits across both. The hot water page helps choose a system and decide on repair or replacement. The gas side, meaning the line test, the connection and commissioning, is done under a gas fitting licence.
